I am new to this forum, but very interested as I recently purchased a used Canon C100 mk I and really enjoying it. However, I do experience the issues when doing live streaming to my Atomos Atom X CAST and realize I need a pull down or descaler device. I do have a BMVA 12g though, so curious if this worked.

I am trying to connect a Elvid FieldVision 10.1" monitor via HDMI for a small director's monitor and no matter what I do, I am only able to get a 480 signal from the HDMI output. I can get 1080 when the monitor is hooked up to my 5D mark iv and I have played around with HDMI cables, and camera settings but nothing works.

What specific codec are you using on the C100? On page 135 of the User Manual, it shows that the HDMI output signal will be 480 when recording in low bitrates for both AVCHD and MP4.

The HDMI output is interlaced so is outputting 1080i. Your monitor either needs to be capable of playing interlaced footage, or apply a pulldown to give you progressive playback. That 480 is the resolution of a single field.

I'm not following. 480 would be for SD (standard definition). And wouldn't a single interlaced frame for 1080p contain 540 lines?

You will get 480 if the camera is set to 60Hz. For 50Hz you will get 576. The OP needs to check his setting on the camera. To get a 23.98 frame rate at 1080p the monitor, if it doesn't display interlaced footage, will need to apply a 3:2 pulldown.

You would need either a hardware device that is capable of doing it like a monitor that will play interlaced or progressive footage, or a recorder such as one from the Atomos range, or an NLE such as Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve. Possibly a mini converter from Blackmagic Design may be able to do it.

I just heard back from Elvid costumer service and apparently the monitor can handle interlaced footage so I'm at a loss. Could there be a camera setting I am missing?

That's where I'm stumped as well since the Elvid specs show that it should indeed support that particular HDMI signal your camera is sending out.

Long shot here, but do you have a TV or AV receiver that would provide displayable info about an HDMI input signal? Wondering if that could help determine just what type of signal is being output.

Maybe also try different frame rates just to see what would happen. e.g. 29.97. Any difference?
