Hello...
I purchased an XF605, a few weeks ago, and shot a church service, as a test.
My intention was to record 2160p, 10-bit, 4:2:2, on one card (for editing) and 1080p, 8-bit, 4:2:0, on the other card (for archive).
I created a timeline, to compare the two recordings, and was astonished that I couldn't tell the difference.
Does this have really good 1080p or so-so 2160p?

Honestly, I can't say that I was really impressed with the 2160p recording.
It could be due to the fact that I'm so used to seeing studio-lit, fully-edited, full-frame, cinema camera videos.
I might have just been expecting too much.
I'll link the side-by-side footage, so you can determine for yourselves.

XF605 Test Footage

Feel free to upload footage, if you are getting noticeably better results.
Please give some direction as to things that I could do better.
I did have the camera in full auto, as I'm still learning the settings.

I noticed, right off the bat, that auto white balance is surprisingly bad.
I'll definitely have to do a manual white balance, the next time I have my camera there.
That venue also uses some cheap, Amazon, Chinese, PTZs and a JVC 250.
Both of those other ones were much more accurate on the white balance.
I'm not sure about the PTZs, but I know the JVC uses full auto.

I appreciate any input you guys can give.
I've always been a Sony fan, but the current crop of camcorders doesn't allow 4k recording, HDMI out, and the LCD screen.
For live production, that just doesn't work very well.
The XF605 checks pretty much every box that I have.

Thanks...
JJ

Hi Double J! I am curious if you have figured out how to optimize the 4k that the camera is capable of. I shoot golf content and am struggling to optimize it also.

I haven't optimized anything, but I have found that the EOS profile settings match fairly well with cell phone footage.

JJ

I don't as I just don't care to take the time to do all the coloring.
I use multiple different camera and none of them have log options.
If all cameras were the same, it would be a simple correction to apply to all of them.
In this instance, it's just more work than I care to do.
Hehehe...
JJ
