topic imagePROGRAF TC-21 No option for 12x18 Tabloid Oversize/Arch B Sheet Paper in macOS in Production Printing

TC-21 (US Model) and 12x18 Tabloid Oversize/Arch B Sheet Paper MacOS

Hi, one of the reasons I purchased this printer (still setting it up and learning) is because it can take 12" wide Sheet Paper as well as 24" roll paper. Replacing an Epson Wide Format that did 12x18 and wanted to still do that as it allows me to print exactly 1/2 sized Arch D (24x36) by printing at 50%.

Despite the Page Setup in MacOS allowing you to choose Tabloid Oversize (12x18) and the ability to create a custom Arch B (12x18) size, the printer itself doesn't let you choose that in the menu for Sheet Paper. I tried using "Any Size" and when I printed without a paper roll in, it just demanded a paper roll, and now that I have roll paper installed, it insists on printing to the roll. Choosing "Tray" in the print settings is ignored.

In the Canon software, I only see how to add TYPES of paper to the printer, but not SIZES of paper. I assume TC-20 would work the same if anyone with experience can speak to that?

Thanks

So, here is the answer. TC-20 and TC-21 can TAKE IN 12" wide paper, but for some reason, Canon has decided that the largest sheet you can specify is 11.69" wide.

But because you can print with a zero margin on sheet paper, this isn't really any issue. Your custom paper size should be:

11.69in x 18in and then use ZERO margin for the left and right and 0.15in margins for top and bottom. What this will create is a 12x18 effective page size with 0.15 margins throughout. When you insert the paper, tell the printer it is ANY SIZE. When you print, choose your custom paper size and make sure to choose the top feeder (or create a saved preset with this chosen).

If you want to print an Arch D at 1/2 size, make sure to print at 50% (not fit to page or fill page). And also make sure your original had borders that were at least .3in from the edge.

This won't allow you to do full bleed on a 12x18, but this isn't really the printer for that type of work anyway.
