Installing MG3122 wireless printer to laptop

I am trying to install the printer on my Toshiba laptop. I bought the printer from a friend. During installation, my computer says "communicating with printer via USB." After a couple of minutes, I get an error message saying "Error occurred while communicating with printer." It's done this about 5 times. I don't know what else to do.
