mx870 locked and will not respond

My MX870 printer will not respond. I cannot turn it off, nothing. It currently gives the Standard Copy message and has the blue circles around black and color. Yellow light is on at Copy option.

I tried to turn it off but it will not respond.

Hi oasis508,

Please follow these steps to resolve this issue:

1. Disconnect the power cord completely at the back of the printer.

2. Please push the power cord back into the receptacle ensuring that the cord is pushed in as far as it will go.

3. Pull the cord and see if it easily slips out from the connector or if it seems secure.

4. If the machine does not power on automatically, press the ON/OFF button.

5. If the machine does not power on after the power cord was pushed in all the way at the back of the printer and the ON/OFF button was pressed, please unplug the power cord from the machine and leave it unplugged for no less than 20 minutes.

6. Please then reconnect the power cord, ensuring that the cord is pushed in as far as it will go.

7. Press the ON/OFF button.

Once on, please attempt to turn your PIXMA MX870 off. Are you able to turn your PIXMA MX870 off?

If so, please attempt to print or copy.
