topic Pixma Pro-100 Network Problems in Printer Software & Networking

I work for the IT department for a school. One of our art rooms purchased a Canon Pixma Pro 100 and we are having some trouble with it on the network. First it is crazy how non-friendly this printer is to administer on a network but I finally figured out how to set a stactic IP for the LAN port. However whether installing the printer manually using my static IP through Windows or a deployment tool called PrinterLogic, it installs the printer but will only show as Offline. Now if I use the regular Canon setup using a USB cable and then choosing LAN, it installs the printer and it works, but that is not a proper solution for installing this printer on a large number of computers. I also notice after the Canon utility installs the printer, the printer properties lists the port as some custom Canon port and not the static IP address. Any help is appreciated.
