    <description>&lt;P&gt;1. Goto Device Manager and Uninstall the printer. Disconnect printer from computer (unplug).&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;2.reboot&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;3.Connect the printer to computer. Windows will 'find' the new device (msg in lower right corner) and find its driver (if windows has one in its database) or it will open the installation window. Don't let it search online, direct it to the folder/drive where the (downloaded) driver resides.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;4.Make sure that you have proper drivers installed on your system&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Regards,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Christian&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I'm trying to install the PIXMA MG5420 on my Windows 7 and I keep getting this message that says my computer can't detect the printer on the network. I have a router set up. I checked the signal strength of the printer (86%) and the connection (active). I don't have a USB cable for the printer because it didn't come with one and should be wireless. I would really like to get my printer installed. Please help!&lt;/P&gt;</description>

I ran through these steps it says my connection is active and my signal strenght is at a 100% but my wireless devices are still not recognizing this printer. Navigate to SETUP from the main screen of the printer.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;2. Press the third Function button below the screen to display the SETUP menu.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;3. Use the left/right arrows to select DEVICE SETTINGS, then press the OK button.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;4. Use the up/down arrows to select LAN SETTINGS, then press the OK button.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;5. I can't seem to find the printer on the network no matter what I do.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I have even gone through the registration process on my phone, through the app. I joined the "setup" network, registered the printer to my wifi network by choosing it from the list and typing in my password. It gave me a message saying "settings sent." But then the app kept searching, and there's no printers listed in my app.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;On the laptop I went through the setup guides, but my computer could never find the printer on the network. My laptop and router and printer are all within 10 feet of each other, so signal isn't an issue. My internet works perfectly, so the network isn't faulty. It's the printer somehow. Very frustrating. Please help!&lt;/P&gt;</description>

I also obtained telephone or onsite customer support from:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;1 Canon (telephone, more than one hour)&lt;BR /&gt;2 XFinity, ISP and provider of my router (on site, several hours)&lt;BR /&gt;3 Local computer technician (on site, several hours)&lt;BR /&gt;4 Dell (telephone, several hours)&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Printer works OK via USB cable. All drivers are current. I even installed a new Canon MX922 wireless printer and a new router. They work perfectly, but MG5420 does not.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;U&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;Summary&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/U&gt;: it's not the network, it's not the router, it's not my PC, it's not the ISP. The printer thinks it connects wirelessly to the PC, but it doesn't. The reading is false, like a gas gauge that shows "full" but the tank is empty. To my PC and network, this printer remains invisible.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I need this printer to work wirelessly. Any ideas, Canon or anyone? Both are powered on and both show the blue Wi-FI indicator. Settings for both are idenical.&lt;BR /&gt;1. Canon MX922 wireless connects to the network and my PC. It functions correctly.&lt;BR /&gt;2. Canon MG5420 wireless does not connect to the network or my PC despite repeated completion of all troubleshooting steps. It remains invisible to my PC. It can print when connected by USB cable.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Turning on Network discovery was a good idea, but it was already on.&amp;nbsp;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;&lt;FONT color="#FF0000"&gt;Still looking for a solution&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/STRONG&gt;, For example: "your printer's the wireless hardware (or software) is defective and needs to be replaced. I have gone into my router security and ensured that it is broadcasting with the same encryption as the printer but no success as of yet.       <description>&lt;P&gt;I was able to contact Canon here in Canada and the service representative was extremely helpful.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;The problem was that I have a Rogers Hitron dual band modem/ router and the IPv6 was not turned off so the printer did not get an IP address assigned to it. If you have the same modem/router and are trying to connect your wireless printer try setting the IPv6 to inactive.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Hope this can help others.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Cheers!&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Doug&lt;/P&gt;</description>

This one may be going back to Micro Center any minute, but for now, I too am stuck with a printer that the computer can't find on the network after going through all the responses here.       <description>&lt;P&gt;That's left over from the previous posts. I have a Mac and I'm not running any form of Windows, but this thread describes the problem which is that although I got the printer to find the network, the computers cannot find the printer on the network. I've followed nearly all the advice above, but gotten nowhere.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I ampresuming the printer is successfully connected to the network and you can get it to print the network information.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;What is the ip address of your printer and what is the ip address of you mac. &amp;nbsp;Do they start with 192.168 or 10.0?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;The reason Why I ask is, with my issue my Mac has a habbit of bridging the network, so I was trying to install the printer on one local network (exclusive to my&amp;nbsp;macBook), and the printer was on my office network. &amp;nbsp;Two separate networks, and therefor could not see the OS/ printer install could not see the printer.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;The printer itself confirmed that it successfully connected to the network, yes. I haven't made it print anything.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;The IP starts with 192.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I had an earlier Canon that did all this just fine, no hassles.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>
