Hi juliejulie,

You can download and install the drivers for the printer from the Canon USA website to install the printer wirelessly. To do this, please follow the steps below:

1. Press the Maintenance button (looks like a pair of pliers and a screwdriver) on the printer repeatedly until the symbol that looks like "G" appears in the LCD, then press the <COLOR> button to enable the wireless LAN function of the printer.

2. Once the wireless LAN has been enabled, we will want to download the drivers from the Canon USA website. The following link will take you to the initial download page for your PIXMA MP495:

Once on the initial download page for your model, please do the following:

1. Verify that the operating system detected in the "OPERATING SYSTEM" drop-down menu is correct, and if it is not, please click the drop-down menu to select your operating system.

2. Next, please click on the red arrow next to the "DRIVERS" section and click the MP DRIVERS file. When you do, another page will appear giving details of the file you are about to download will appear.

3. Please scroll down on the Details page and agree to the terms of the disclaimer message to continue with the download process by clicking on the "I AGREE - BEGIN DOWNLOAD" button. After clicking the "I AGREE - BEGIN DOWNLOAD" button, follow the instructions to download and install the driver. The time for the download process may vary depending on the speed of your Internet connection and the size of the file being downloaded. Please be sure to have the USB cable unplugged from the computer prior to installing the drivers; the installation program will prompt you to plug it in at the appropriate time.

Once the drivers are downloaded and installed, please restart your computer, and you should be all set to print.

Believe it or not, I've tried downloading the drivers about a twenty times, and I'm not sure of this, but I believe I had the USB cord plugged in every time. I guess that prevented the download from working.

If you have a wps router,,,button on top of router. Hold down that button until it starts to blink...then hold down maintenance button on printer for five seconds...blue wifi light on printer will began to blink...when it stops and there no errror on the screen printer will be now on the network. Had this problem also...until I read the manual pg 42...i be;ieve...enjoy...have this printer set up on three devices now...works fine!

There's actually a much easier way to connect to wifi. I've had this printer for years and bever knew about this method! You'll still have to install the appropriate drivers for the device. Mac loads it automatically and I'm sure windows has a driver for it already. The other software is for pictures and managing and monitoring ink levels. All you need to do turn it off then back on, wait for the number 1 to appear, press and hold maintenance for 5second until the screen changes to a moving pattern, then press "fit to page", the wifi symbol on the printer should now start blinking.... All you have to do next is find your modem and press the "wps"button within 90 seconds after the previous step. The wifi symbol with turn solid blue meaning the connection was successful. You have to have a modem with a wps butto (almost all of them do unless you've had your provider for years and never upgraded. And you're done! Check the screen on the printer for any errors. It will give you a code if there's an issue. Take the code and search it on google.If you do not have a wps modem then you will need to set everything up using a USB cable. Hope this helps! I'm mad I didn't know this before. It would've saved me a lot of time!

Success!

For the search engines, I have successfully added the MP495 to Mac OS X without the setup CD.

1. Factory reset your printer by pressing the Maintenance buttong until you see the letter tee 't'. Then press the Black and Color buttons at the same time.

2. Download Network Tools and CUPS printer drivers on the Drivers/Software page under Recommended, and Software:

3. Reboot your Mac, turn off Printer, Do not plug in the USB cable.

4. Turn on your Mac, turn on your Printer, wait until the Wifi light turns blue.

5. In Applications, Canon Utilities, start the Network Tool, Select Setup from the Pulldown Menu in the top left, and click Update until you see your printer, It will go through the process of adding your Printer to your Wifi Network. It will tell you to turn your printer off and move it to to it's home, and turn it back on to complete the process.

6. Wipe hands on pants, print a test page.

Hello! I had to change my router and network settings and now cannot use MP495 wirelessly. I'm on Windows 10, and I've not seen instructions particularly for Windows 10. Will appreciate any help I can get. Thanks.

Hi Pmball,

Please press the Maintenance button on your PIXMA MP495 until the letter 't' appears and then press the Black Start button. This will reset the network settings on your PIXMA MP495.

To install your PIXMA MP495 for use over your network wirelessly with your Windows 10 computer, please follow these steps:

1. Visit Canon's website at: http://usa.canon.com/support

2. Type PIXMA MP495 in the "Enter a Model" box and click GO.

3. On the Drivers & Downloads page, under Recommended, please click the Select button next to the MP495 series MP Driver.
