I am having the exact same trouble but my printer info sheet says my signal is 0%. I've rebooted and moved the printer closer to my router and nothing is working. What else can I do?

The WiFi (WLAN) set-up works good all day after it starts. But overnight when the printer is inactive it looses it. When trying to print first thing in the morning I have to re-configure it using the "Standard Setup" method which involves typing in my WiFi password (a long and cumbersome process). This machine is new (only 3 days old) and maybe this problem will eventually go away, but it hasn't for the last two mornings. Anybody have this problem? If so, how to fix? Thanks.

Hi Hal2k,

So that we can better isolate the issue, I would like to see what happens when you unplug the router and plug it back in instead of reconfiguring the printer. The printer should be retaining the wireless settings, so I suspect what is happening is that the router is losing connection with the printer, and power cycling the router and seeing if it prints afterward will help us determine that.

I've got 2 computers, 1 iPad and 2 iPhones in my synced WiFi system. I've partially solved my problem

by connecting one computer to the printer with USB. It works great. The other computer started to

work wirelessly on it's own without any further help from me, as did the iPad. However, the 2 iPhones still

do not work and all I get on them is a message saying "No AirPrint Printers Found". They both have

iOS 6.1 as does the iPad. Rebooting the printer didn't help.

Signal strength is 54%. " Link quality" not shown on the print-out. Other possible appropriate readings are:

Connection/Active, Channel/10, Subnet Prefix Length/64, Wireless LAN DRX/Enable, Authentication/WPA-PSK, Encription/ TKIP, plus other stuff in the "Wireless LAN" section. Also an "Other Settings" section which doesn't appear significant for this purpose.

I haven't discovered a way to attach a file to this message. If doable, let me know how and I'lll send you the whole print-out.

Hi Hal2k,

Yea, unfortunately you can't attach a word document or a text file, just a picture or video, but the 54% you are getting can definately account for the issues you are having. Optimally you want that number to be around 70 to 80% if not better. If at all possible I'd recommend moving the printer closer to where the router is, but if that's not possible you can try two things, one would be to access your router settings and try changing the wireless channel that your router transmits on. If you are in an apartment complex or if you are in a neighborhood with other people who have strong enough wireless routers their signals can be overlapping yours causing signal loss and switching to a less crowded channel will help that. If moving the printer or the router so that they are closer to eachother is not an option, your other option would be to purchase a wirelses extender that will strengthen the connection between your printer and router.

Purchased PIXMA MG5420 a week ago. Several times after setting up WiFi connection I have had to go through setup again and again. Called Canon Support this afternoon and tech insists that my Cisco router is the reason the connection is being lost. Re-installed drivers with tech help. Thought problem was solved. WRONG. Connection dropped again several hours later. Using Dell Windows Vista laptop. I have a Lexmark wireless printer (not air printer) that never has this problem.
Suggestions to solve this problem appreciated. Note laptop and iPad (reason I bought Canon printer) are NEVER dropped by router, so I do not accept Support's claim that my router is to blame.

Hi JJo,

With some routers, if activity is not detected on a device after a set period of time, the device will be removed from the routing table. When the printer enters standby, it also enables discontinuous reception to save power. This might cause the printer to be disconnected from the router when you attempt to print again.

To disable this feature:

Select Setup on your printer's operation panel

Select Device Settings

Select LAN Settings

Select Other settings

And then Wireless LAN DRX setting

Set this option to Disabled

If the device is still disconnected after a long period of inactivity, I recommend contacting your router manufacturer for some additional options or settings you can change within the router itself.

I have connectivity issues as well. It's not the router. Turn off printer, unplug, nothing helps. It works fine for a while. Don't even know what ever happens for it to connect again... It just goes on and off... now it's off and I can't print! Very frustrating! Not showing up on my iphone when I have it right next to the printer so it's not signal strength! Won't print from laptop in next room either.
