. Printer canon image class mf 249 dw operating system is Windows 10 64 bit. two days ago I sent a fax to a hospital to get some documents. The fax I sent did not go through and I received a fax report that it was not successful. I tried many times to send fax and I got fax reports that they did not go through. The following day I found out that the processing/data on the pretest screen continue flashing green light. I called Canon for technical supports but I was told that there was no more update for this printer. When I disconnect the phone cable, the green flashing light disappears. When is connected the flashing light comes on and on the screen of the printer I see a message saying receiving. I have disable the autodial belt to prevent it from redialing. when this light continues to flash I cannot send or receive fax. and when people send fax it creates that my fax machine is engaged. and need some help

Do you have phone you can check your land line with?

Troubleshooting the Busy Signal on imageCLASS MF249dw

Check Phone Line Connection

Ensure the phone line is functioning properly.

Verify that the fax machine is connected to the correct port.

Make sure no other devices are using the same line simultaneously.

Restart the Fax Machine

Turn off the imageCLASS MF249dw.

Wait a few moments, then turn it back on. This can help reset any temporary issues.

Test the Phone Line

Connect a regular phone to the same line.

Check for a dial tone. If there is no dial tone, there may be a problem with the phone line that needs to be addressed by your service provider.

Additional Considerations

If the busy signal persists after these steps, consider the following:

Check for any settings on the fax machine that may restrict sending or receiving faxes.

Ensure that the fax machine is not set to a mode that conflicts with receiving faxes, such as "Fax/Tel Auto Switch."

I have tried all of your above suggestions, but the green light continue to flash when I reconnected the phone cable. No flashing when the phone is not connected. I will try Factory reset today.

Greetings,

Although you've marked this post as solved, you appear to still have an issue.

I suggest you review the user guide below before resetting the device.

Your phone line has to be connected to the lower port on the back of the printer. An analog phone line is recommended. Some VoIP providers support fax functions but you should confirm this If you are using a internet-based connection.

https://oip.manual.canon/USRMA-1354-zz-SS-enUS/contents/SS249_fax_062connectingthetelephoneline.html#01090040

Deciding which fax receive mode to use:

https://oip.manual.canon/USRMA-1354-zz-SS-enUS/contents/SS249_fax_058configuringinitialsettingsforfaxfunctions.html

Please confirm the above connection in settings.
