Spectrum/Charter recently sent me a new, super-duper router. I have connected it up, and everything seems working fine...EXCEPT that I now cannot use my Canon MF232w printer. The blue WiFi light on the printer keeps flashing. The router came with a new password, so I'm wondering if I need to enter this new password somewhere in the printer's settings. But where?!

Thank you! Is there a way to check whether mine is 2.4GHz or 5GHz?

Greetings,

Your new ISP issued router may have a sticker on the bottom or side with login and connection information.

If the sticker displays 2.4 and 5ghz SSID's with respective passwords. It's a dual band router.

You can also log into the router's admin portal and review its wireless settings to see what bands it supports.

If it uses the same SSID name for all wireless broadcasts, it could keep the printer from making a successful connection. It might be helpful to give each broadcast a unique name or temporarily disable the broadcast the printer doesn't support and re-enable after a successful connection is made.

Hello.

Does the problem lie in the printer not detecting the network, or do you not know the steps to configure it for Wi-Fi?

Thank you to all of you who have responded to my post. I have to admit that I'm not terribly 'tech-savvy,' so I'm not sure how to answer your questions.

PixelxWomans, I think you have the right approach to this issue. Yes, I do think the printer is not detecting the network and no, I do not know how to configure the printer for Wi-Fi (even though it was working just fine with my older Router.

Hello.
That model is quite similar to others; here are the steps:

Open the menu.
Go to the red options.
Select wireless network options.
Then select SSID options.
Choose "Select access point."
The Wi-Fi networks detectable by the printer (2.4 GHz band) should then appear.
Once you select the network, enter the Wi-Fi password.

Access the input modes for uppercase letters, lowercase letters, and numbers; below the input mode option, there should also be an option for symbols.

Let me know if you have any questions; I work directly with printers.
