Hello,I am experiencing an issue with my Canon MF643Cdw printer on macOS Tahoe. The printer connected and printing correctly, however the macOS print dialog does not show any option for enabling/disabling 2-sided (duplex) print

What I have already checked and tested:

AirPrint and IPP are enabled on the printer
Bonjour/mDNS discovery works correctly
The printer appears properly in macOS and CUPS
Printing works successfully
The printer’s web UI has 2-sided printing enabled
Duplex support exists in the driver (duplex2/2-Sided Printing: none DuplexNoTumble DuplexTumble)
I can manually enable duplex through terminal using:
lpoptions -p PRINTER_NAME -o duplex2=DuplexNoTumble
However, the macOS print UI still does not show any duplex/2-sided printing option anywhere

Things I already tried:

Removed and re-added printer multiple times
Added printer via Bonjour, IPP, and socket://IP methods
Installed latest Canon drivers
Completely removed Canon drivers and reinstalled
Tried adding printer with Canon driver instead of AirPrint/IPP Everywhere
Reset CUPS and macOS printing system
Cleared printer caches and PPD files
Tested from Preview/TextEdit
Checked all print dialog sections (Layout, Printer Features, Finishing, etc.)
Verified duplex settings through CUPS
Rebooted printer and Mac multiple times

The issue appears to be specifically related to the Canon driver UI on macOS Tahoe, because duplex functionality technically works through terminal commands, but the graphical print interface does not expose the option.

Could you please advise if this is a known compatibility issue with macOS Tahoe or if there is an updated UFR II driver/plugin available?

What version of Tahoe are you using? There is a three week old UFR driver package for your printer for TahoeV26. Here is the download link.

I'm using Tahoe 26.4.1 with driver version V10.19.24

Steps to Fix Missing Duplex (Two-Sided Printing) Option on macOS

I’m not entirely sure why these steps resolved the issue, but this was the only method that successfully restored the duplex (two-sided printing) option for my Canon printer on macOS.

1. Edit the Printer PPD File

Open the Terminal and run the following command (replace PrinterName with the exact name of your printer):

sudo nano /etc/cups/ppd/PrinterName.ppd

2. Enable the Duplexer Option

In the PPD file, locate the section containing printer settings (for example, near the *LanguageLevel entry) and add the following line:

*Duplexer: True

3. Save and Exit

In Nano:

Press Ctrl + O to save the file
Press Enter to confirm
Press Ctrl + X to exit the editor

4. Restart the CUPS Printing Service

Run the following commands in Terminal:

sudo launchctl stop org.cups.cupsd
sudo launchctl start org.cups.cupsd

5. Reset the Printing System

Open System Settings → Printers & Scanners
Hold the Control key and right-click in the printer list area
Select Reset Printing System

6. Reinstall the Canon Driver

Download and install the latest printer driver from the official Canon website.

7. Restart Your Mac

After the driver installation is complete, restart your Mac.

8. Re-Add the Printer

Add the printer again in Printers & Scanners
