Is this issue confined to your printer models? Is it because your printer is using generic drivers unlike mine the driver is exclusive for the MG3620? have never lost my Canon drivers (current or past Canon printers) with Windows 11 Pro updates. I have not see this with other printers either, or the users who have driver issues are not aware it could be caused by a Windows update. This merits more investigation I think. I did lose the function of an Epson V100 flatbed scanner after a major Windows 10 update. No fix for it. I had to purchase a new V600 photo flatbed scanner. I was not too pleased to have to do that, however the scanner is very good.

Your printer may show up as an unspecified device where it can be quickly re-added, right click Control panel, then right click open and the unspecified devices will be at the bottom of the screen.

The Pain of Microsoft Automatic Updates

Why is it that just about every time my computer gets an automatic update from Microsoft, my printer drivers disappear and thus, my printers are no longer found? I have two relatively new printers: Color ImageClass MF751cdw II and Canon ImageCLASS LBP122dw. I'm currently running both computers on Windows 11 and this situation happens to both computers and printers. I'm really getting frustrated and there's no one at Canon who seems to be able to assist with this and Microsoft ... well I can't even get through to them. It sure would be nice if Canon (which has a little more clout than one lowly person) would contact Microsoft to discuss this problem with them and try to resolve the problem.

Thank you for your reply. But that didn't resolve my issue. My printer doesn't show up as an unspecified device -- it doesn't show up at all, and I have to start all over as if I had just gotten a new printer. Extremely frustrating.

I, as an individual, have attempted to contact Microsoft about this issue, but have had no luck. It sure would be nice if Canon would step in and speak up for others who have experienced this same issue.
