Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app on iPhone, can i use it with no free trial

When I download the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app on my iPhone, it instead installs Smart air printer Pro, which is free for 3 days then has to be paid. A google search on this says it's a scam, yet it appears this is old info and Apple now has now aligned with this scam company so we're charged. It will be a rare occasion when I want to print from my iPhone and certainly not with paying for a subscription. Does anyone know anything about this?

Did you download from the Canon support page for your printer?
