Hi,

Thank you for your detailed guidance. I followed all of the steps you recommended, including removing and reinstalling the printer, configuring a static IP, and installing the latest driver.

At this point, the printer does appear on my computer and I am able to send jobs to it. However, when I try to print, the job briefly appears in the queue and then disappears without printing anything.

I have also tested both network and USB connections, and the same issue occurs in both cases. Because of this, I’m wondering whether the driver itself may not be fully compatible with newer macOS systems. For reference, I am using a MacBook Air with an M4 chip.

Do you have any additional suggestions, or is this a known compatibility issue with this model on newer Macs?

Thank you for your help.

Best,
Sohee

I recently purchased a Canon LBP6030w, but I am unable to print anything from my new M4 MacBook Pro. I have spent hours trying to resolve this, but nothing seems to work.

1. System Specs:

Printer: Canon LBP6030w

Computer: MacBook Pro (M4 Chip)

OS: macOS Sequoia 15.1.1

Driver: Latest V1.5.15 driver from the Canon website

Bonjour (Wireless): The printer is recognized and successfully added to the printer list, showing as "Idle." However, it does not respond when a print job is sent.

IP (LPD/HP Jetdirect): I successfully added the printer using its static IP. The printer appears as "Online" and "Ready" in the system settings, but the actual print data never reaches the printing stage.

USB Connection: Even with a direct USB cable, the printer is correctly identified in the system, yet the communication gap persists.

3. The Core Issue:

The printer is properly registered and shows as connected in macOS.

However, when I hit print, the data transfer starts but hangs (e.g., at 67%) or gets rejected by the printer with the message: "The remote host did not accept the data file."

It seems like a protocol or data interpretation error between the M4 chip and the legacy Canon firmware, rather than a physical connection failure.

Is there any specific workaround for this model to work on Apple Silicon (M4) with macOS Sequoia? I would greatly appreciate any expert advice as I haven't been able to use this printer at all since I bought it.

Greetings,

My recommendation would be as follows.

Remove the printer from the Printers and Scanners applet using the minus key (-).

Restart the system

Download and run this tool to set and configure the printers static IP in the OS.

https://pdisp01.c-wss.com/gdl/WWUFORedirectTarget.do?id=MDIwMDAwNjk4NDAy&cmp=ABR&lang=EN

Then download and install the printer driver to get full feature and functional support of the device.

https://pdisp01.c-wss.com/gdl/WWUFORedirectTarget.do?id=MDEwMDAxMjgwNjAx&cmp=ABR&lang=EN

If you have the printer installed as a TCP/IP device using its IP... then installing the printer driver should be all you need. After the driver is installed, open the printer properties and ensure the Canon print driver is selected in the Use: dialog drop-down for the driver selection. Close and test printing.

Do not rely on Bonjour.

The driver above will work under Tahoe as well. 😉

Greetings ,

There are no incompatibilities between your hardware and the printer. If the printer is not appearing in the printers and scanners applet, then it's not installed.

Printer and Scanners applet:

Use the globe icon which is just to the right of the default add printer icon. Enter the static IP address of the device in the first field. The IP will also populate in the printer name field below. This field is editable. Give your printer a friendly name. Example: LBP6030w

For protocol, use IPP.

In the Use: field below, use the drop down to select the Canon driver you installed earlier. The second (link) download I provided above.

Press ok to add the device. It should now appear installed with a green "ready" LED.

Although this model supports multiple simultaneous connection methods, I would not recommend using more than one from the same system. So I suggest you disconnect the USB cable. Before performing the above steps.
