      <description>&lt;P&gt;I am unable to set up a Canon color ImageClass mf642cdw printer. My laptop is windows 11. I downloaded and installed [Windows 32bit &amp;amp; 64bit] MF Scan Utility Ver.1.21.0.2 at &lt;A href="https://www.usa.canon.com/support/p/color-imageclass-mf642cdw?srsltid=AfmBOop0NrOn0eX49l-NFvFPEcnoZcAni6qYx4Vl9OZjNqkCVqynxT4f" target="_blank" rel="noopener"&gt;https://www.usa.canon.com/support/p/color-imageclass-mf642cdw?srsltid=AfmBOop0NrOn0eX49l-NFvFPEcnoZcAni6qYx4Vl9OZjNqkCVqynxT4f&lt;/A&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;It displays Installation of Canon MF Scan Utility completed successfully. But, I could not find the software and set up the printer. Nether do I see the Canon printer in the print list. How to open the Canon printer driver to set up the printer wirelessly?&lt;/P&gt;</description>

&lt;P&gt;You need two installers for the printer to Print &amp;amp; Scan successfully.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;One is the MF Scan Utility v1.21.0.2 which you have already installed.&amp;nbsp; Normally you install this application second but I'm sure you can recover from this.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;The other is&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;[Windows 64bit] MF644Cdw/MF642Cdw MFDrivers (Generic Plus UFR II / Generic FAX / ScanGear)&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;This will enable printing, and also installs ScanGear which is an alternative Scanning Utility which compliments the MF Scan Utility.&amp;nbsp; &lt;span class="lia-unicode-emoji" title=":slightly_smiling_face:"&gt;🙂&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Here is a link to the download:&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;

Do not know why Canon does not list the downloading Software &amp;amp; Driver from &lt;STRONG&gt;Newest to Oldest as default&lt;/STRONG&gt; but &lt;EM&gt;Recommended &lt;/EM&gt;by Sort? The user is easily misled to select the recommended one which is an incorrect driver&amp;nbsp; for print.&amp;nbsp; By the way, should&amp;nbsp; a user download Firmware too? What is the difference between Firmware and Software &amp;amp; Drivers?&lt;/P&gt;</description>

&lt;P&gt;Drivers allow your operating system (windows MAC, Linux) to communicate and utilize a peripheral device such as a printer.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Firmware is programming that is embedded into hardware that (in basic terms) tells that hardware what it is and what to do when it's powered on.&amp;nbsp; Press power button...&amp;nbsp; Firmware "says"...You're a printer, look for a embedded operating system on X, start operating system and boot, your capabilities are X, look for connections from X.&amp;nbsp; Wait for print jobs.&amp;nbsp; The printer has its own embedded "operating system", but it's firmware that tells it what to do and look for when it's powered on.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;If your printer is connected via wired (ethernet) or wireless to a network, you can update the printers firmware using the printers LCD.&amp;nbsp; Use the arrow key on the right side of the screen.&amp;nbsp; Scroll until you see an icon called firmware.&amp;nbsp; Then tap to select.&amp;nbsp; Do not send any jobs or press any buttons until the process is complete.&amp;nbsp; It takes a few minutes.&amp;nbsp; The printer will automatically restart.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;If you are using a USB connection, let us know and I'll provide instructions for that.&amp;nbsp; &lt;span class="lia-unicode-emoji" title=":winking_face:"&gt;😉&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

&lt;P&gt;You are the second person that's mentioned this message.&amp;nbsp; I have two ImageClass devices and have never seen this message &lt;span class="lia-unicode-emoji" title=":thinking_face:"&gt;🤔&lt;/span&gt;. I'm trying to find information on it.&amp;nbsp; If you have the option to disable it I would.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;***Edit.&amp;nbsp; Okay I must have searched correctly this time.&amp;nbsp; This message indicates that one or more of the toners is low.&amp;nbsp; As a result print quality can decline.&amp;nbsp; You can ignore / bypass this message for a period of time but eventually the printer will stop printing.&amp;nbsp; It's a nag that asks you to subscribe to the toner replenishment program. The premise behind it is to keep you from losing your ability to print. You don't have to subscribe.&amp;nbsp; I'll check later this morning and see if there's a way to disable it &lt;span class="lia-unicode-emoji" title=":slightly_smiling_face:"&gt;🙂&lt;/span&gt;. I have an Office Depot and Best Buy 15 minutes from my house so no problem getting toner when I need it &lt;span class="lia-unicode-emoji" title=":grinning_face_with_big_eyes:"&gt;😃&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>
