topic GX2020 Printer Comes up as GX2000 and Won't AirPrint in Printer Software & Networking

I just set up my MegaTank GX2020 twice. I've updated the printer's firmware, reset and restarted it, and it still keeps connecting to devices as a GX2000. When I delete the drivers and reinstall them, my PC keeps reinstalling the GX2000, and I can't find the GX2020 drivers. The printer device information shows GX2020, but on my PC and app, it displays as GX2000. I made sure the Bonjour setting is enabled for AirPrint, but it still won't. I can discover it on my iPhone, but when I select it, and it tries to connect, it fails and disconnects automatically. Anyone know how to fix the issue?

Greetings,

The G2020 appears to be a printer intended for sale in Asia.

The operating system often identifies the device as the series it's a member of, G2000 in this case. This does not indicate a problem. What is the version and build of the operating system you're using it with? How is your printer connected and to what?

You should install its printer drivers from the Canon support portal.

https://sg.canon/en/support/PIXMA%20G2020/model

If you are using a USB connection, you should install the drivers first and not connect the printer until prompted to do so by the installer. If you've already tried and failed to install the device you should remove it from the printers and scanners applet, restart your Mac and perform the installation again using these steps.

To receive support for your product please visit Canon Asia.

Hi, MarcoG! What you're seeing is how the printer is supposed to show up. The MAXIFY GX2020 is part of the MAXIFY GX2000 series which is available globally with a different model number depending on which region of the world it's intended for. The version available in North America, for example, is the GX2020 while the European version is the GX2050. The driver should work with all members of the GX2000 family and will show up under that name.

If you still need help getting your devices connected to your printer and you're based in the United States, our support team is just a phone call away. You can reach them Monday through Friday at 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666).

Hope this clears things up!
