    <description>&lt;P&gt;Greetings,&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;When you open the MF Scan Utility and initiate a scan what happens?&amp;nbsp; Are there any error messages?&amp;nbsp; There is a small box in the upper right hand corner&amp;nbsp; of the utility.&amp;nbsp; Is there more that one printer identified in the drop down?&lt;/P&gt;

      <title>imageCLASS MF462dw that keeps resetting to fax driver</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;My Canon all in one keeps resetting to the fax driver.&amp;nbsp; I can not get it to set to the printer driver.&amp;nbsp; So every time I print, I have to go click to make the printer driver show u.&amp;nbsp; I have tried everything.&amp;nbsp; Also , the printer goes to sleep, and won't work, so I have to turn it off and on again to make it work.&amp;nbsp; this usually happens when I am trying to scan.&amp;nbsp; I REALLY AM NOT HAPPY WITH THIS PIECE OF JUNK!&amp;nbsp; My Brother all in ones worked great for 20 years, and I really wish I had bought another one instead of this thing that took almost a week to get it to run, and almost eveyr day there is an issue.&amp;nbsp; Is it just me, or does eveyrone have problems with this?&amp;nbsp; Should I just give up and buy something better?&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

&lt;P&gt;Let's start with some basic information.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;What OS version and build are you using the printer with?&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;How is the printer connected and to what?&lt;/P&gt;

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I am running Windows 11 Pro.&amp;nbsp; the printer is hooked into my computer by a USB type A, and hiiked into the printer by a USB type B.&amp;nbsp; I installed the standard MF462dw driver by the CDRom that came with the printer.&amp;nbsp; It includes: Generic Plus UFRII, Generic Plus PCL6, Generic PlusPS3, Generic Fax, and Scangear.&amp;nbsp; I don't need the fax at all,; as I have a separate fax.&amp;nbsp; I have tried installing the drivers by the CDRom and by downloading them from the website multiple times.&amp;nbsp; The CDRom installed all of those drivers. Nothing ever comes up where I could specify which driver I wanted to use-it just automatically picks the fax one. And I seem to have no ability to delete the fax driver, either.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Thanks for responding.&amp;nbsp; Here's what I recommend.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Open the printers and scanners applet under settings.&amp;nbsp; Remove &lt;STRONG&gt;all&amp;nbsp;&lt;/STRONG&gt;instances of the printer.&amp;nbsp; Printer, fax, scanner, etc.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Disconnect the USB cable from your system.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Now open the Control Panel &amp;gt; Programs and Features.&amp;nbsp; Uninstall all software and drivers related to the printer.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;Important&lt;/STRONG&gt;, restart your system.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;You only need two drivers to print and scan.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;#1&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;Note.&amp;nbsp; Run the first installer.&amp;nbsp; Do not connect the printer until you are prompted to do so.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Then run the second installer.&amp;nbsp; You can throw that CD you have away. It's outdated.&amp;nbsp; It was produced when the printer was manufactured and could be a year or more old.&amp;nbsp; If you need to install the printer on another system, visit the link for the support portal I posted previously.&amp;nbsp; It has the lasted drivers and software available for your device.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;You should now be able to print and scan.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Well, that worked great up until a point.&amp;nbsp; I now have one file stuck in the print spooler that I have spent two hours trying to get out unsucessfully.&amp;nbsp; This also caused a cascade of 25 pick an apps to decend on my computer as well.&amp;nbsp; I STILL HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET THE PRINTER TO WORK, AND NOW IT DOES NOT WORK AT ALL!&amp;nbsp; As a lawyer, this is super critical and very, very bad.&amp;nbsp; I have spent over 8 hours on this stupid Canon, and I will NEVER, EVER BUY ONE AGAIN! I got most all the software uninstalled, and the printer says there is no driver there, but it shows up under settings.&amp;nbsp; I managed to get all but one file out of the print spooler, but the print spooler says that file is open, and nothing I do closes it. I had to stop and spend an hour on the pick an app mess on my computer.&amp;nbsp; I was planning to do actual work, but can't as now I can't even scan or print documents. At least before I tried to fix it, I had a workaround. But I do appreciate your help. I guess serve me right for buying an older model, but I just didn't need a giant copier as I am the entire office. Maybe i would have been better off just buying a separate printer and a separate scanner. I think it says it is a SPL file if that makes any difference.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

&lt;P&gt;The printer's not that old &lt;span class="lia-unicode-emoji" title=":grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:"&gt;😄&lt;/span&gt;.&amp;nbsp; It's definitely supported under Windows 11. I have 2 MF's which are almost identical except they are color units&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;How to get documents deleted that are stuck in the print queue.&amp;nbsp; Click on the start button and type "services.msc" (no quotes).&amp;nbsp; Press enter.&amp;nbsp; The services applet will open.&amp;nbsp; Scroll down to P's until you see the print spooler service.&amp;nbsp; Right click on the line item and select &lt;STRONG&gt;stop&lt;/STRONG&gt; from the context menu.&amp;nbsp; Now right click on it again and click &lt;STRONG&gt;start.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/STRONG&gt;That should take care of any documents stuck in your print queue.&amp;nbsp; &lt;span class="lia-unicode-emoji" title=":winking_face:"&gt;😉&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;One thing I've not experienced is to "pick an app".&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Is your Windows 11 running in S mode?&amp;nbsp; Let's find out.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Click on the start button, type "winver" without quotes and press enter, tell me what the dialogue says that displays.&amp;nbsp; It's going to tell you what version and build of Windows you're running.&amp;nbsp; Does it say S mode?&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;The printer is solid. I promise you. There is something that we haven't identified with your system yet.&amp;nbsp; The install typically takes about 8 minutes start to finish.&amp;nbsp; Without extras picking an app, etc.&amp;nbsp; I used HP printers for years before switching to Canon and I'm so happy I did.&amp;nbsp; The Canon software and operation is so much better.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Unfortunately I tried that and it did not work. Maybe I should try reinstalling the driver again and then trying it? I did fix the pick app thing, so that's a plus. I truly appreciate your help. And you are responding quickly. I won't be able to get to this for awhile as I have to go to court and then to the jail.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>
