topic Alternative to PIXMA G3290 with Ethernet connectivity? in Printer Software & Networking

Love the G3290, hate the connectivity

We've got a G3290 and the printout quality is amazing. For various reasons the WiFi here is terrible, this printer doesn't have an Ethernet option, and the various "print servers" available are (1) unreliable, and (2) don't allow sharing of the scanning capabilities.

Are there any Canon printers/scanners that have the same print quality as the G3290 but have built-in Ethernet?

greetings,

Before you run out and grab a different device, can you please tell us more about your wireless network?

Brand and model of the router

Band you are connecting to (are you using the same SSID name for all broadcasts}

Proximity of the printer to the router

Are there obstructions, walls, heating ducts, plumbing etc between the router and printer

Any other details that might be relevant would be helpful. 🙂

Rick - unfortunately, the company on the floor above us designs and manufactures RF equipment and it's very common that during their R&D they emit bursts in both the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands (among others) that take down all of our WiFi (not just to the printer). It's a known problem and something that cannot be solved (we have tried repeatedly). I realize that in many situations there are solvable WiFi problems but I don't want to go down that rabbit hole here (grin)!

Hi,

Thats perfectly understandable. Yes, bursts of high intensity RF at or near the 2.4 and 5G frequencies would wreak havoc on nearby wi-fi networks. I bet the landlord didn't account for that when bringing them in. Maybe they didn't say.

Indeed, you should go with a printer that supports ethernet connectivity. I'd give the Canon sales team a call. They can help with a product suggestion. Canon Sales Team 1-800- 385-2155

Maybe someone in your office will be lucky enough to take the G3290 home with them.
