topic Why does PIXMA TR8620a printer driver say (Copy 1)? in Printer Software & Networking

Canon Model TR8620a - Direct connected to PC via USB cable - Windows 11 Home

Reference screengrab.

When I send a test print to the printer, it works fine. When I try to send a screengrab from my screengrab editor (PicPick), nothing prints. Does the (Copy 1) in parenthesis indicate I have more than 1 copy of this printer driver installed?

Greetings,

@DerrickL is correct. Each instance of the printer will display with the name of the printer first. Each subsequent instance will appear with Name(copy1), Name(copy2) and so forth. Changing connection type (interfaces) is a common cause for this. It can also be caused if you connect the printer using USB before installing the drivers or being prompted to do so by the installer.

To resolve, disconnect the USB cable and remove the device from the Printers and Scanners applet. I'd also recommend uninstalling it's driver(s). Important restart your system. Now run the installer and connect the printer only when prompted to do so.
