Greetings,

I'm trying to understand more about your network. The wireless security standard for WPA2 encryption is eight characters. 16 is recommended and the standard supports up to 63 characters. If your router is allowing you to use 6 characters, then it doesn't conform with the industry standard. Canon printers follow the industry standards set by the IEEE. This is a global standard. Can I ask what brand and model your router is?

Edit* Are you not using WPA2 encryption?

Just purchased the printer and it will not connect to the internet. I do not want to change my password to 8 or more characters and have to change all the other connected devices in my house. How can I connect using my current Wifi password?

Sure we have a Linksys mesh routing system - the account password is longer, however the Wifi password is 6 characters long

Greetings,

While I am familiar with Linksys Velops mesh systems, (If that's what you have), I can only speak to the requirements of the printer, which as I said previously supports the industry standards established by the IEEE.

The printer supports a 2.4Ghz broadcast that uses WPA2 encryption. This is a global standard that requires a minimum of 8 characters for its passkey. Canon like other printer manufacturers follows these guidelines which they do not control or create.
