PIXMA TR8620a won't print from iPad Mini, prints OK from iPhone 14

I have a new TR8680a printer. It prints fine from my iphone14.

however, it will not accept print jobs from my iPad Mini. When I go to the print screen, it selects the correct printer, but when I push the print prompt in the top right hand corner, it just disappears. The printer, iPhone and iPad are all on the same network.

i have checked all the troubleshooting but something must be wrong in the settings.

The model number should appear on the front of the printer at the lower right corner of the movable control panel.
