Sounds like the download might be corrupted try re-downloading the installer directly from Canon’s official site, maybe with a different browser. Also make sure you’re grabbing the Windows 11-compatible version.

I have a new computer and am trying to install the drivers for the 5420. I am running Windows 11, and was successful with the driver that is a part of Windows, but need to install the scanner drivers. I have downloaded the latest software to do the installation (win-mb5400-1_1-n_jucd Canon Drivers Full). The constant error is the "CHECKSUM is not a valid Win32 application". I tried installing both as an administrator and regular user. Are there any recommendations you have for me? Thanks.

Thank you so much for this reply. I downloaded 2 installation programs from the US and Canada sites and they failed. I wonder if there are some dependent files somewhere on the computer that are corrupt. Do you know if there is some other way to do the install? Is there a way to manually put the drivers in to the proper spot, or, clean out all of the dependent files - if they exist? Thanks.

Yeah, I had a similar issue before. What worked for me was using a cleanup tool like Revo Uninstaller to fully remove any leftover files, then doing a clean reinstall. You can also try manually installing the driver through Device Manager if the setup keeps failing. Worth a shot!
