MAXIFY MB2720 - unable to detect home Wi-Fi...PLEASE HELP!!!!!

I am trying to setup my Maxify MB2720 for my new semester, but the printer is unable to access my home wifi since I have moved. When I go into the setup settings the name of my router appears (it requires a password) but the printer doesn't give me an option to input the password, rather it gives me the run of the mill error message. I have tried resetting ALL the printers settings...twice (didn't notice a change anywhere) and also reseting my router (again no change). I start classes this Firday, and I moved into my new place yesterday. Due to my new desk my printer is nowhere near enough to plug in the printer cord (from printer to PC) so I need to be able to print wirelessly. PLEASE HELP!!!!

Hello there!
To change the network settings on your printer, you just need to re-install the Canon software - like it's new again. The software will uninstall any previous software, then install the current version, and re-pair your printer to your current network. Thank you for this, but the problem is....I never get the screen on my printer to allow me to enter a new passphrase. I am going through the install steps using the link you sent, but my printer does not show either screen for the password? That's my problem. Any ideas?

Greetings,

Lets try again.

First step. Please confirm your wireless network has a dedicated 2.4Ghz broadcast that uses WPA2 encryption.

Multiband networks that use the same SSID name for all broadcasts, or those that come configured with WPA3 will not allow the printer to connect. Note, it is sometimes helpful to give each network broadcast a unique name, or to temporarily disable the other network bands while connecting to 2.4Ghz, then re-enable once the printer has successfully connected.

I would also suggest removing the printer, uninstalling its software and restarting the PC before performing the re-installation. Some models must be put into wireless Pairing Mode before running / performing the software install.

Thank you, I will give this a try tomorrow. I just have a couple of questions-How do I determine if my router has the WPA 2 encryption? How would I temporarily disable the other networks?

Thank you for this information. After many changes to my ISP modem/router configurations, I was able to get my printer connected. The information provided 'wireless network has a dedicated 2.4Ghz broadcast that uses WPA2 encryption' was invaluable! Thank you for your assistance!

Hi Sneaky3,

You'll need to log into your router to confirm/verify what bands and encryption standards it's configured for (supports). There you can give your broadcasting networks unique names and/or temporarily disable the other networks the printer is not able to connect to. You can also verify the encryption standard each band is using. WPA3, WPA2 or mixed WPA3/WPA2. This can simplify making a connection. Then re-enable them. It only has to be done once. It's not necessary in every case, but it does reduce the number of variables while troubleshooting.
