Looking for any guidance or solution to be able to download the TR8620 software to my laptop that is a
Snapdragon(R) X Elite - X1E78100 - Qualcomm(R) Oryon(TM) CPU 64-bit operating system, ARM-based processor. When attempting to load the current print drivers from the CANNON website, I am receiving an error that "driver is not available" and it redirects me to the WINDOWS driver website, which is useless and the printer download fails and I am unable to print wirelessly (or scan).

NOTE -- I am able to PRINT from the USB cable but unable to scan (wired or wirelessly) or print wirelessly due to this driver situation. Any solutions coming or am I stuck with hardwire to the USB port for the time being?

You've hit a common and frustrating issue with the newer ARM-based Windows laptops, particularly those powered by the Snapdragon X Elite. The problem stems from driver compatibility:

The Core Issue: Driver Compatibility with ARM Architecture

Traditional Drivers (x86/x64): Most printer and scanner drivers are written for the traditional x86/x64 architecture used by Intel and AMD processors. These drivers won't work on ARM-based systems.
ARM-Native Drivers: For peripherals like printers and scanners to function fully on ARM-based Windows, manufacturers need to develop drivers specifically for the ARM architecture (ARM64).
Canon's Current Situation: Canon, like many other hardware manufacturers, may not have released fully compatible ARM64 drivers for the TR8620. This is the reason why you're encountering the "driver not available" error.
Windows Driver Website: The Windows driver website often provides generic print drivers, but these may lack the advanced features (like scanning) or wireless functionality.
Solutions and Workarounds (and Their Limitations):

Check for Updated Canon Drivers:
Continuously monitor the official Canon support website for any new driver releases for the TR8620. Canon may release ARM64 drivers in the future.
Check the driver download pages very carefully. Look for any mention of "ARM64" or "Windows on ARM" compatibility.
Windows Scan App (Limited Scanning):
Since you are able to print via USB, you may find that the Windows Scan application will allow you to scan via the usb connection.
Search for "Windows Scan" in the Windows search bar.
This application is very basic, but may allow you to scan documents, while waiting for better driver support.
Third-Party Scanning Software:
Explore third-party scanning software that might have better compatibility with ARM-based systems. Some of these programs may rely on generic drivers or TWAIN/WIA interfaces.
This is a gamble, and compatibility is not guaranteed.
Virtualization (Potentially Complex):
In theory, you could try running a virtual machine with an x86/x64 version of Windows on your ARM laptop. However, this is complex, resource-intensive, and may not guarantee full driver compatibility. Also, it might not work with the printer's hardware.
This is not a recommended solution for most users.
Wait for Industry Adoption:
The ARM-based Windows ecosystem is relatively new. As more manufacturers release ARM-based laptops, printer and scanner manufacturers will likely prioritize developing ARM64 drivers.
This is not a fast solution.
This also lets them know that there is a demand for ARM64 drivers.
Current Reality:

For now, you're likely limited to printing via USB.
Scanning wirelessly or via a wired network connection will likely remain problematic until Canon releases ARM64 drivers.
Key Takeaway:

The issue is not your laptop or the printer but the current lack of ARM64 drivers from Canon.

I hope this helps!
TalkToFoodLion

Thank you for this response. The CANNON web site indicates that this printer (TR862x) is ARM compatible but that is not a correct statement. I will take your advice and contact Cannon to escalate this driver issue. The site indicated that the download driver is compatible but that is not correct.

The link provided here on the compatible devices is not correct, and I have left a note with CANNON regarding that article dated July 23, 2024. The TR862X printer is still indicating a failure with driver download when using the current printer download on the site today.

I don’t have W11 so I can’t test, but the link does not say to download anything from the Canon site. The installation is performed via the Windows Control Panel ~>Devices and Printers module. Is that what you tried?

Sounds like Canon hasn’t released ARM-compatible drivers yet. You might be stuck with USB for now. Try Windows built-in "Add a printer or third-party scanning apps. Otherwise, keep checking Canon’s site for updates.

Thank you all for your feedback here. I was able to connect with both Cannon and with Microsoft. Not sure it did any good but they are aware of the issue and ARM devices. However, I am now able to report that the problem has resolved itself.

After connecting this printer via USB, and printing out tax forms (UGH), today I hit PRINT on an email and expected it to stay in my print cue until I connect the USB cable. To my surprise, the printer is now connected via the WIFI and it is able to print & scan. Not sure what happened in a week, but the WIFI PRINTING & SCANNING problem appears to have resolved AFTER CONNECTING AND PRINTING via the USB cable. I am going to mark this as resolved and hope it works for others using ARM devices.
