Greetings,

Let's make sure you are visiting the correct support portal for your device.

MF656Cdw Support

For Windows you need the 1st and 3rd recommended downloads. MF Drivers with ScanGear and the MF Scan Utility V1.21.0.2.

If you are using USB as your connection method, you should run the drivers first and not connect the printer until prompted to do so.

If you are connecting wirelessly or with ethernet get the printer connected to your network first. Note, If you are using a network connection, I suggest you assign the printer a static IP on your network. This is done on your router and only has to be performed once. If you are not familiar with this, just ask.

The downloads are self-extracting zip files. This means that they will unpack themselves automatically. Windows supports compressed (.zip) files natively so you should not need to do anything special except download the file and double-on it. It will extract the contents of the zipped file to a new uncompressed folder for you.

If you are experiencing difficulties, you can manually rename the downloaded file extension from .exe to.zip, then right-click on the file and select extract from the context menu. Now run setup.exe.

If this proves to be challenging for you, you can contact Canon Support. Start by registering your printer in the MyCanon portal.

MyCanon

Then call support 1+800-662-2666.

One other thing worth noting. If your HP laptop is based on ARM processor, the driver's for Intel will not run. Let us know if this applies in your situation.

Hi, I'm new here. I am trying to print some labels for use today. I downloaded the recommended driver but my laptop says it cannot unzip the download. I just want to run it, I'd prefer to download it, really. What is my problem?
