      <description>&lt;P&gt;I've looked all over and I'm hoping someone can help me clarify once and for all, can I print remotely to the MF654Cdw? For instance, is there a way I can be away from the office and easily print to the MF654Cdw in the office either from my phone or laptop? And would this work even if a computer is not connected to the printer at the time?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;If the answer(s) are yes, please provide details on how to do this because it doesn't seem to be an easy setup. Thanks!&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Greetings,&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;The setup for this configuration is called iFax. It's documented in the printer's user guide.&amp;nbsp; It is similar to scan to email which is outbound.&amp;nbsp; iFax works as an inbound connector and allows the printer to print inbound emails from remote sources.&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;Setup is not difficult but it depends on your understanding and skill level.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;

I have tried this a couple of times and everytime I check connections, the SMTP connection works fine, but the POP connection throws an error:&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Server authentication error.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Check User Name and Password for the POP Server.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;sometimes I get an "Unable to connect to server."&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I have created an email on gmail and enabled the POP3&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I have double-checked, triple-checked the pasword I'm using.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I changed the POP3 Port number to 587&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Any advice on what I could be doing wrong?&lt;/P&gt;</description>

&lt;P&gt;Note you need to power cycles the printer for these settings to take effect.&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;I use the restart device button for graceful restart.&lt;/P&gt;

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Thanks, we are making progress! The settings are now sticking in the eMail/iFax Settings page which wasn't happening before. I was probably using the app password with spaces although I thought I tried this without the spaces.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I tried to send something to the email address to see if it would print. I thought maybe it was the pop interval setting so I adjusted it from 0. I ended up getting a report stating that the Rx job ended in an error. Result is NG&amp;nbsp;#827. I thought maybe it was because I didn't forward as an attachment. I tried again from the computer instead of my phone and got an error NG #818. Thoughts?&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;In addition to the errors I mentioned in the last reply, I also wanted to ask a couple of questions on things I've read while researching how to make this work. This is my first time using a Canon printer this way and my boss is used to using his phone to just forwarding an email to another printer in the office while he is in the field.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Using this ifax/email option:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;1) Is the only option to send the email using the "forward as an attachment"?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;2)&amp;nbsp; Does the attachment have to be a specific file type, such as a pdf?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Thanks!&lt;/P&gt;</description>
