Greetings,

This sounds like an issue with your network configuration. I would suggest assigning the printer or static IP on the network. Now remove the printer from your MAC and restart.

Now install the printer as an IP printer on your system. Assigning the static IP ensures persistency. It ensures your printer always gets the same IP from the router, regardless of how often it's used.. turned on turned off, goes to sleep, etc. when you use DHCP, the leased IP can expire but your computer will try to use the last connection method anyway. If the IP has changed the printer will show as offline and will not receive print jobs. Address reservation or assigning a static IP only has to be done once.

It did work initially but would always go to sleep and then say offline. After reinstall is says connection failed. I have downloaded and installed all the latest software dated 2/7/2025. ex.Wi-Fi Connection Assistant Ver.1.9.1 (Mac). It works fine and I can print using the Canon Print app on my iPhone. I even tried a physical LAN cable directly from the router to the printer but that didn't work either. It finds the printer, IPv6 as it's a 5G network, but when I get to the end when it says Add Printer, it never appears. For firewall settings I allowed Canon Wi-Fi connection Assitant.app. Should I allow others? WiFi agent? My Mac is a 2023 with the M1 chip and the software is Sequoia 15.3.1. Thanks.

A static or reserved IP is made on your router.

Once done, Open the printers and scanners dialog in Mac OS. The icon one over from the left in the Add printer applet allows you to add a printer using its IP address.
