Greetings,

Please log into your router and confirm its network settings.

The printer requires a 2.4 GHz broadcast that supports WPA2 encryption.

If your network is configured to use the same SSID name for all broadcasts or a different encryption methods such as WPA3, the printer could have difficulty or fail to connect.

I have a Canon ImageClass LBP246dw printer connected using Wi-Fi. It was working fine until I got a new router. I can't connect it to the new one.

I can find the network in Wireless LAN Settings. But, when I enter the password it tells me: "Could not connect. Check the encryption key settings."??

Thanks for your response, shadowsports.

I do have both 2.4 and 5 GHz frequencies using the same network name. (Both using WPA2-PSK (AES) security mode.) I tried disabling the 5 GHz frequency and the result was the same. Except the message said check the security settings, instead of encryption key.

However, while I had the 5 GHz freq. disabled, I tried connecting from my iPad and was told the password was incorrect. Whether that was true (I have my doubts) or the router had a hiccup, some combination of restarting the router and "replacing" the password fixed the problem.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Thanks Tiffany,

I didn't include my computer OS because that really plays no part in the communication between the printer and my network router. Although, I supose I could have provided more details about the router itself. So, point taken.

Question: The response from shadowsports wasn't, in and of itself, the solution to my problem. However, I certainly credit them with pointing me in the right direction so I could find the solution. Is it correct for me to click "Accept as solution" on that post?
