    <description>&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;Gregory,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Sorry, I was mistaken when I wrote&lt;BR /&gt;(I have the "Display the Scanner Driver" box checked in MF Toolbox because I like to use "Preview" in the "Advanced Mode")&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I should have written&lt;BR /&gt;(I have the "Display the Scanner Driver" box checked in MF Toolbox because I like to use "Preview" in the "Advanced Mode" &lt;STRONG&gt;in ScanGear MF&lt;/STRONG&gt;)&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;In MF Toolbox, when I select a scan type (eg. Color Scan), another window appears that has a green "Start" button. Just above the "Save Scanned Image to" section of this window is a check box for "Display the Scanner Driver".&lt;BR /&gt;With this box checked, when "Start" is clicked, the scanner driver window appears. This window is titled "ScanGear MF". This is where I selected the "Advanced Mode" tab and "Preview" I mentioned above.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I should also mention that I tried many other ideas, over several days, before I came up with a solution that worked for me, which may have affected the end result. (I was getting frustrated so I can't remember everything that I did)&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;One thing I tried worth mentioning, is the solution proposed by Piers_A on page 3 of this forum which says;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;UL&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;This simple fix I found online worked for me:&lt;BR /&gt;Start&amp;gt; in the run box type. Services.msc&lt;BR /&gt;Scroll down to Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)&lt;BR /&gt;Right click, select Properties&lt;BR /&gt;Check that Startup type is set to Automatic&lt;BR /&gt;Click Log On Tab&lt;BR /&gt;Check that Local System account , and Allow service to interact with desktop is checked. Hit apply.&lt;BR /&gt;Click Recovery...Click on window next to First Failure, Scroll to Restart the Service. Hit apply.&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;/UL&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Also, while making sure that the drivers were up to date, I found a patch on the Canon website (called "Patch for Network Scan, USB Scan") just below the driver. The desciption Canon provides is;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;UL&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;This patch resolves an issue that prevents scanning over a network or with a USB connection after upgrading Windows to a newer version. If you cannot scan over a network or with a USB connection, install this patch. If installing (or reinstalling) the MF driver, be sure to first restart (not shut down) your PC after driver installation is complete, and then install this patch. If you are using USB scan, be aware that it may cease functioning after any future upgrades to Windows. If this occurs, install this patch again. After installing this patch, if the message prompting you to restart your PC is displayed, restart (not shut down) your PC. * If you do not restart your PC, this patch will not take effect.&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;/UL&gt;&lt;P&gt;As I said, none of these things worked for me. It was the "Run as Administrator" that ultimately worked, but maybe they are all part of the whole solution.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If you want to try the&amp;nbsp;patch, it can be found at Canon Support&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;&lt;A href="https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support" target="_blank"&gt;https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support&lt;/A&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;UL&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;There should be "Enter a model" search box&lt;BR /&gt;Enter "mf48" and select your printer that appears in the drop-down and click on "Go"&lt;BR /&gt;Click "SELECT" beside "Patch for Network Scan, USB Scan"&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;/UL&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <title>MF Toolbox doesn't work on Windows 10</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I have a&amp;nbsp;&lt;SPAN&gt;MF4570dn, and recently upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;I can no longer scan using the MF Toolbox utility. &amp;nbsp; I had MF Toolbox 4.9 installed before the upgrade, and it worked just fine. &amp;nbsp;After the upgrade, I get "Cannot communicate with the scanner" error dialog:&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;&lt;IMG src="https://community.usa.canon.com/t5/image/serverpage/image-id/7798i231BE255B871939F/image-size/medium?v=mpbl-1&amp;amp;px=-1" border="0" alt="Error1.png" title="Error1.png" /&gt;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I thought I would try to reinstall the MF Toolbox utility, but there are two problems.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;1) The downloads page shows no downloads for Windows 10 for this printer. This should be updated.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;2) I downloaded the one for Windows 8.1, and tried to reinstall, but it just hangs at the "Processing Installation" screen:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;IMG src="https://community.usa.canon.com/t5/image/serverpage/image-id/7799iF0E4559F1EFBC3B0/image-size/medium?v=mpbl-1&amp;amp;px=-1" border="0" alt="Error2.png" title="Error2.png" /&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I've also tried to uninstall the existing MF Toolbox first, and it also hangs at this same dialog.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I've also tried various other things without success:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;- Connecting via USB instead of Network. &amp;nbsp;It detects the scanner, and MF Toolbox can switch to that device, but it still gives a communications error.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;- Trying the built-in Windows Scan app instead of MF Toolbox. &amp;nbsp;It uses the WIA driver. &amp;nbsp;It barely starts to scan, then immediately cancels.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Please Canon - forward this to your engineers and provide a fix asap. &amp;nbsp;I cannot use my scanner on Windows 10.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;(I can use the printer functionality just fine.)&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I&amp;nbsp;upgraded to&amp;nbsp;Win 10 on six machines.&amp;nbsp;five machines can print. One can not load the driver and can not print.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;No machine can scan.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I hope this gets fixed rapidly.&amp;nbsp; I really need the scanner.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I Upgraded to Win 10 today, so I had this problem too.....however......&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;OK, so this isn't an exact substitute for the Toolbox....I have an MF4770n.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I did find Win 10 Drivers on this site, so maybe they are new additions.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Download and install the latest drivers for your MF4770n from this site. Restart your PC. Test printing.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Then go to the &amp;nbsp;&lt;SPAN&gt;Windows App store, search "scan", find "Windows Scan" app, install.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;At MF4770n load a doc to scan, select Remote Scanner,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;At the PC, open Windows Scan App - it found the 4770n instantly on my system.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Use the drop down menus to select source, output etc. You can preview platen scans, not auto feeder docs.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Doc feeder worked to scan a 5 page PDF first try!&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Works for me, hope it does for you.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Steve&lt;/P&gt;</description>

After reboot and login turn printer back on and make sure it's connected to network (test ping and config page)&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face="Calibri" size="3"&gt;4. Install driver, it should detect printer but if not try entering the IP, and make sure MF Scan&amp;nbsp; appears in notification area.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face="Calibri" size="3"&gt;5.       <description>&lt;P&gt;I found the solution to this problem. You want to remove other driver folders in Windows/Twain_32 directory. I manaully removed Creative folder and it worked. I guess my creative cam doesn't work anymore, but that was coming for a long time.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I resolved this issue by removing drivers other than Canon in Windows/Twain_32 folder. You want to uninstall the existing drivers (perhaps going in safe mode first), then remove the extra driver folders in /windows/twain_32/, but leaving wia.ds file in that folder there. Afterwards, install both the cannon driver and MF toolbox and it should work.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Found solution for my case.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;1. Uninstall previous drivers&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;2. Uninstall Toolbox in safe mode&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;3. Install new drivers downloaded from Canon (updated for Win10)&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;4. Install Toolbox in safe mode (also downloaded from Canon, version ToolBox_4911&lt;STRONG&gt;mf17&lt;/STRONG&gt;_Win_EN)&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Now working fine.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Didn't delete any driver from Windows/Twain_32 directory.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

So I didn't uninstall it.....&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Hopefully this solution will work for all Toolbox users!&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;The downside is the Windows Scan App now has issues, but I am not too worried about that one!&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Thanks for your post!&lt;/P&gt;</description>

Our first swap to Windows 10 is fatal for SCAN.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Very regrettable that Canon has not "Seen the Possible" !!!!&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Success!&amp;nbsp; I was able to remove 4.9.1.1.mf16 in Safe Mode and then install 4.9.1.1.mf17 in Safe Mode and that did the trick.&amp;nbsp; I can now scan!&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I did the same thing. I unistalled MF toolbox in safe mode, reinstalled it and rebooted. It now works. I did not unistall any drivers.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
