PIXMA MG8220 Printer/Scanner Not Recognized by Mac OS Sonoma 14.0

Last night I downloaded Mac's OS Sonoma to my desktop and now my PIXMA MG8220 will not be recognized by it. I installed the two latest software downloads from the Canon website but those didn't help. Is my printer obsolete for this new OS system?

The MG8220 is 11yrs old and has not been supported under MAC OS since Sierra. MAC OS has seen 6 releases since this support ended. Its unlikely new drivers will be released since the product is retired.

It might be possible to use the device as an IP printer with limited functionality. Apple may also release patches that allow the printer to operate with additional function. This is not guaranteed. You can also speak to a Canon Upgrade Specialist regarding a newer model supported under the operating system you are using.
