    <description>&lt;P&gt;It might be a sign that something inside mechanical was stuck due to the vacation off and the grease getting old and dry or just a hangup in the internal software.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Perhaps your batteries are low?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;No way to tell for sure only time will tell.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;To reset the internal software/firmware without resetting to defaults you can remove the batteries and hold the power on switch in the on position for at least 30-45 seconds then release it and then replace the batteries and turn it back on.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Anything more involved would require service which would cost much more than your camera is currently worth.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I have an old S5IS that still works very well.."knocks on wood"!! lol&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;My S3 IS was not used for a few months. &amp;nbsp;I turned on the power, and the screen came on and showed me the settings, but no image from the image sensor. &amp;nbsp;I cycled power on and off two more times, and still no image. &amp;nbsp;On the fourth try, I got an image. &amp;nbsp;Now it works fine. &amp;nbsp;Is this a sign that the camera is going to fail?&lt;/P&gt;</description>
