come to think of it, I might be confusing the g15 with one of my DSLRs.

Powershot S110 Program Shift?

Just got a Powershot S110 to be the "more pocketable" companion to my G15. The 110 has a Program mode, but I can't find any way to shift the program. If there is no program shift, how is this any different/better than Auto?

The program mode is sort of an advanced Auto mode that allows you to change ISO, exposure compensation, white balance, color modes, and metering. The camera will calculate the shutter speed and aperture values. With this mode you can start to take control over how the photos come out. I'm not sure what you mean by "Program Shift".

Thanks...that answers my question. The program shift on my G15 allows me to select from various combinations of shutter speed and aperature that all have the same exposure value--allowing me to "favor" either shutter speed or aperature for a given EV.

That must be something new on the G15. I have the G12 and the program mode is just like the lower cost A and SX series.
