Canon PowerShot ELPH 110 hs WILL not open. When open won't close. Have to "force it some way.

Prior to developing the open/close difficulty it would close when I took one picture or before I could take one. Sometimes it would allow me to take 4-5 pictures then close. When I would put it down on a surface it would open. It would open in my pocket. It would be open when I left in the car for a few minutes. What is the problem with this and can it be fixed? If so, how.

Thanks for posting.

If the lens is stuck in the extended position or in the retracted position, please do not try to force it to extend or retract. Doing so is not good for the mechanical parts inside the lens. Try removing the battery and letting the camera sit for a few minutes. If you try to power on the camera again and the lens is still stuck, the camera will need to be repaired.
