How do I restart Powershot Sd1300 camera?

I have had my camera for little over two years and this is first issue I have had with it. When I turned on the power i get a beep then the folowinbg error message "Lens Error Will shut down automatically Restart camera" I have gone through the manuel and can not find anythinbg with regard to Restart camera. What can I do?

my 8 yr old son actually was looking at mine trying to figure out how to turn it on and help down the power button and the shutter button and it slowly retracted a little so i did it a few more times and now it works perfectly
