Thank you for the suggestion. As it turns out I have a card reader on both my USB hub and one of my printers, I just didn't think of that option.

What do I do with my PowerShot ELPH 300 HS that is no longer supported?

I bought a Canon ELPH 300 HS because of Canon's reputation and at the time that was a lot of Money. When it got stolen when I was being hand checked at the Detroit TSA checkpoint, I bought another. Now I have a nice working digital camera from which I cannot retrieve the pictures. The camera uses USB connections which are still supported by every PC in the world but Canon conveniently used the Operating system updates to drop support for their proprietary software so now I have a small useless expensive appliance.

Any suggestions?

Greetings,

Buy a card reader. These are under $20 and will work on any computer as a mass storage device.

I have never used Canon software. I find that the built in tools (in my case Image Capture and Photos) work just fine.

Use it 'til it breaks.

The problem I was encountering was that Windows 11 was not recognizing the USB connection at all using the provided USB A to USB A mini cable. I might play around with the USB connections some later but the above suggestion of reading the SDHC Memory Card will suffice for now.
