topic Canon A580 won’t turn on in Point & Shoot Digital Cameras

Hi, recently i came upon a digital camera and i really wanted to try it but it doesn’t seem to turn on. I replaced the batteries with appropriate ones and even cleaned the contact points and it doesn’t turn on. The only visible defect it seems to have its the battery port lid that doesn’t exactly close completely but even if i press it so it makes contact it still doesn’t work. I really hope i can save it somehow and its not beyond repair. If you have any tips please help me.🙏

Hi Dontknow03,

Thanks for letting us know what Canon product you've got. The PowerShot A580 is an older model which we have retired. While that means that Canon USA no longer offers direct support for it, your friends here in the Canon Community are welcome to offer suggestions!

You can also speak with a Canon Upgrade Program specialist to help you score a modern replacement that would meet your current needs at a discount. You can reach them weekdays and Saturdays at 1-866-443-8002.

Hope this helps!

You came upon an old camera. From where? These things don't last forever, and that's likely why it was thrown away. Thinking about repairs for it is a waste of time.
