Called and did a preorder with BH photo today and realized I didn’t get the insurance. They never asked if I wanted insurance or not. Should I call them back. Do you recommend the insurance?

Greetings,

Did you mean the G7x mkIII?

I've got to be completely honest. You may have a tough time putting your hands on a g7x mkIII. It's been discontinued. It's possible that you could get one, but how long is a different story. It's possible your order could never get fulfilled. Just be prepared for that.

Personally, I would look at the PowerShot V1. This is a camera you can buy today.

Canon V1 vs Canon G7 X MIII Detailed Comparison https://share.google/FEDpyodz0Baxut1ND

The G7x mkIII was a good camera. The R50v and V1 are both worthy of your consideration in this class and price point.

Regarding your insurance question. Regardless of the camera you buy, I would suggest purchasing a Canon CarePak. I think B&H offers CarePaks and Allstate Ins. Getting the CarePak from Canon is the best way to go since this is a service contract provided directly from the manufacturer. The Allstate plans might be a little cheaper, but you have to go through a third party should you have an issue or need repair. CarePaks offer peace of mind. They are comprehensive and provide protection against mechanical defects and accidents. In my opinion, they offer an exceptional value.

Don't worry, you'll have an opportunity to add a CarePak once or if your order is fulfilled.
