Hello delaineychilds,

I'm really sorry to hear that you're having issues with using your flash. Let's try a hard reset of the camera. Remove the battery and memory card. Close the compartments. Press and hold the [On/Off] button for 30 seconds. Then, follow up with these next steps. Try cleaning the battery contacts with a clean, soft microfiber cloth. Do not use any kind of solution when trying this. Go ahead and put the battery back in only. Make sure it has a good charge. Set the camera to the [P] shooting mode. Press the [flash lever] to raise the flash. Press the right directional button and see if you can now change the flash mode. If the problem persists, then the camera has a malfunction unfortunately.

I'm sorry to inform you that Canon no longer provides repairs for the PowerShot SX710 HS. The PowerShot SX710 HS is a camera which is 'Out of Service Life' and parts are no longer available. You do have the Canon Upgrade Program option which allows you to replace your current equipment with a new or refurbished Canon unit at a discounted price. If you would like to take part in the Canon Upgrade Program, please call our Sales Department at 1-866-443-8002 from Monday - Friday between 9:00 am to 9:00 pm ET and they can help you with availability and pricing.

Hi! No matter what mode I am on, the flash button (on the right side of the ring) to change the flash settings (to on or auto) stopped working out of no where. There was no physical damage or any moisture damage. The pop up works good but obviously if i can’t change the settings it’s no use because the flash won’t turn on anyways. I already did a factory reset as well. I will take any suggestions please!

If you picked up this camera around when it was introduced, that was 10 years ago. If you made heavy usage of the flash over that period, it could have reached the end of its life.

Hello! What if you got the camera about a year ago? I did use the flash quiet a bit during this time, but I am having the same problem as this person.
