PowerShot A510 - Won't Zoom When Recording

I have thr cannon powershot a510 and when i try to record it doesnt let me zoom in and out wondering if this is just my camera or this version just doesnt let it zoom in and out while recording this makes me rlly sad coz i was looking forwards to making cute digi cam vids😭😭

Consult the camera User Guide (download from Canon if need be) to see if it is supposed to be able to zoom while recording. I kind of doubt it. I have an A590. The manual says only digital zoom can be used during movie shooting, not optical zoom.

For me my a590 zooms but it doesn’t focus no matter how I change the settings. Do I need to replace it completely or just add a lens on top of it?

You're changing the subject, but anyway, are you too close to what you are viewing?

Does it focus at ANY distances?

Do a full RESET of the camera. Then put it in P (for Program) mode.

Try shooting at different distances.

Does it focus? If not, adding conversion lenses (if you can even find them) will not fix it.
