Thanks! Strangely, a change in USB cord did the trick! I say "strangely" as the cord worked well otherwise - and cords either work or they don't - but when I changed the cord, all the photos popped in, both by GraphicConverter and Image Capture. I will play around with it some more, change a few connectors, etc., but wanted to reply and say thanks!

Connecting Canon G1-X MkII via USB to Mac OS - does anyone have any luck? While I can get a "connection" I can only view 3 photos (not sure why) All the programs I use seem to have difficulty reading into the folders that the G1-X creates. (You only have the option to create daily or monthly image sub-folders, unlike say in an 5D or R5 where there are no sub-folders.). Canon's own clunky DPP won't even register the GX-1! GraphicConverter registers the connection but only shows 3 images, and Apple's ImageCapture the same... I don't have this problem when I hook up an R5 or 5D.

The issue is solved, of course, simply by taking out the SD card and dragging the folder(s) to the computer, which is reliable and easy.

The reason I'm wanting to run a USB cable is because I have this G1-X mounted to a copy stand with a micro-adjustment rail slider for macro photography and unfortunately, the attachment screw on the bottom of the G1-X is precisely next to the hinge on the battery compartment where the SD card is - thus requiring complete removal of the camera and then the quick release plate that's screwed in just to get the compartment open and the SD card out. What a pain! It would be great to just transfer via USB cable and leave the camera in place...

Anybody have any luck? Canon's USB/wireless connections are always quirky even with their higher end stuff...

Thanks!

Greetings garymak,

I am sorry to hear that the camera is only able to display a few images when it is connected to your Apple computer. Per your post, it appears that the issue may be with the camera or connection since you have confirmed that using a memory card reader will allow for applications to read all of the image files.

I would recommend on testing a different USB cable between the camera and computer, along with a different USB port on the computer. You may also test to see if the same issue occurs when connecting the PowerShot G1 X Mark II camera to a different Apple computer running macOS.

In some cases, the memory card that is being used can be the root cause of the issue where there may be something wrong with the card or it may be malfunctioning. You may test a different card with the camera to see if this helps resolve the issue.

If the issue persists, then you may submit your feedback to Canon USA by visiting our website and clicking on the feedback option located towards the top right corner of the webpage:

Sorry, we let you down. We should have suggested another cable. Canon's are pretty finicky about this.

No, not at all. This falls under the ol' "Are you sure your mouse is plugged in?" kinda trouble-shooting. Sooo fundamental that it's often ignored, dismissed or forgotten... yet, there it was! This has made my life sooo much easier now. Appreciate it.
