Canon Powershot G7 mic not working

I'm using a Canon G7 from 2006 and I recently tried recording a video with it but I'm getting audio static when I play it back. Theres no problems with the video, it's just that all I hear is static, and I'm trying to discern whether it's a setting that I need to change or if it's a problem due to age. I've tried adjusting mic sensitivity under audio and it made no difference.

Try blowing out the built in microphone with a can of compressed air. Only use a short one second burst to avoid any condensation. Repeat a couple of times.

So i've used the compressed air and it's helped with picking up audio, but there's still a static noise that's overpowering the audio
