Very carefully.

The same thing happened to mine. Cause: battery swelled up because...age? I guess? Anyway, I was able to pull it up--slowly and carefully--using needle nose pliers. Assuming yours hasn't leaked and fused itself to the contacts inside the camera (and assuming you haven't fixed the issue by now, judging by the date of your posting), this might do the trick.

Loved my Canon PowerShot A 3100 IS - been all over the world with me. Then, with phones that double of cameras, I tucked it away and just rediscovered my little friend. Yikes - battery is stuck in the body of camera. How to remove it?

Thanks for letting us know what Canon product you've got. The PowerShot A3100 IS is an older model which we have retired. While that means that Canon USA no longer offers direct support for it, your friends here in the Canon Community are welcome to offer suggestions!

You can also speak with a Canon Upgrade Program specialist to help you score a modern replacement that would meet your current needs at a discount. You can reach them weekdays and Saturdays at 1-866-443-8002.

Hope this helps!
