topic ELPH 180 no longer connects to Windows 10 computers in Point & Shoot Digital Cameras

My ELPH 180 no longer connects to Windows 10 computers. I've tried multiple computers and multiple USB cables with no luck. I've gone through all the FAQs and have had no success with them. I realize this problem has been posted before but no solution has been posted which matches what I'm seeing. The computers provide a USB-connected confirmation tone when the camera is plugged in but in less than 3 seconds a USB-disconnected tone rings. I've tried this with Device Manager open and "Portable Devices" appears with the tone and then disappears. The same behavior happens accross all computers and cable configurations - the only constant is the camera itself. It was purchased new in May 2020 so it's a young device. I tried installing Canon CameraWindow but that didn't help either.
