topic G1X Lens not retract. Help!! On vacation in Europe ... with no camera! in Point & Shoot Digital Cameras

New G1X. Probably less than 400 shots. Lens extended all the way and froze. Changed battery. Start up - green power light on, lens moves very slightly out and then a kind of grinding, rhythmic sound .... stuck. LED is basically white except (1) on the right third there is (a) several colored (green, red,) vertical lines and (b) a black image that looks like a feather, (2) the 'HS' (?) blue logo is very faint.

Any help much appreciated. First time I have ever had a problem with a digital

Thanks,

Gene3627.
