Brand New Powershot ELPH 180 not turning on

Hi all I am having an issue with a brand new PowerShot camera not turning on. I had recieved the PowerShot ELPH 180 as a christmas gift and had let it chage untill the light was green. But frustratingly it wont turn on despite numerous atempts at charging. I would apreciate any sort of advice on how to fix this issue.

Call Canon, it sounds like it is defective, you might have to return it.
