I'm anticipating taking macro shots of plants and mini critters. I spent a half day with a retired professional photographer. He showed me how to take macro shots with diopters. He used a +2 for a closeup of a trout fly. Looked great. I have looked at page 66. Took some sample photos of flowers with the +4 diopter and macro setting as per page 66. IMHO, made me look professional! Critiques are welcome. Edit- Tripod was broken and waiting for part. Shots were freehand.

Hi nan156,

The easiest way to get great macro images with your camera is to set the camera mode dial to "P" and either setting the focus to macro or, if its having trouble achieving focus, you can switch the camera to manual focus and dial the focus in exactly how you want it. I found the instructions for this on page 66 of the manual, I'll leave it in the link below for you.

http://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/6/0300017416/02/pssx530hs-cu2-en.pdf
