Where did you purchase the card? Apparently there are some shady online vendors selling counerfeit cards labeled just like the brand name cards. If the price seemed too good to be true, this may be the reason why.

You might also try formatting the card in another Canon camera, if one is available. Or try formatting it in a desktop or laptop computer. Either way, if it allows your G7X to recognize the card, be sure to format it again that camera as well.

Also set the calendar and clock in your new camera too.

I just opened my brand new canon G7X and put in a new scan disc memory card and when I turned the camera on it says “memory card error” and I am not able to take pictures. This is my first nice camera and don’t knkw what the issue can be. Both items are brand new. Also I check the lock on the card and it was unlocked. Help figuring out the issue would be great.

Is it a full size SD card or a micro card with adapter?

Exactly what card is it.
