LAST: Now the new HS 720 SX COMES UP WITH ERROR CODE E42

After my focusing problem on an HS 700 SX (see message earlier today) I bought an HS 720 SX the other day.

When using the camera today it suddenly came up with alarm message: LENS FAILURE (or something like it) CAMERA WILL SHUT DOWN. RESET CAMERA. ( I do not remember the exact wording).

Each time I tried to turn off the camera nothing happened. But each time I tried to turn it on again the lens extendd a little until the sixth time the camera went completely dead.

I tried a new battery (recharged it), but the camera is still dead. What has happened?

Here we have two damaged Canon cameras of the same category in the same day. One SX 700 and one SX 720.

Not very impressive.

Best regards Oceantop
