topic High ISO when using Av mode when using SX60HS in Point & Shoot Digital Cameras

I am trying to learn to use Av mode and experiment with various settings. One thing I have noticed is on Av mode, camera always increases ISO value. Same shot taken in automatic mode and Av mode get ISO value of 200 and 600 respectively.

Is there any reason camera bumps up the ISO when shooting Av mode? Resulting image has lot noise and looks grainy.

It depends on the AV setting you have picked. If you have picked f/16 when the auto setting would have the lens wide open, the ISO will be bumped up to compensate.

Check your ISO Rate of Change setting. If it's set to FAST, change it to STANDARD or SLOW. It will help with the ISO setting. This is why I shoot everything in Manual where I have total control.
